2. The app
LagLab is installed from Google Play and works entirely on your device. The app does not request permission to access the internet. It is therefore technically unable to transfer data over the network, and so are the third-party components built into it.
Camera. LagLab uses the device camera or a connected USB camera to show the picture with a delay. The picture is only held briefly in memory for this. A video is only stored when you save it yourself.
Microphone. If “Sound” is on in the settings, LagLab records sound for saved videos. The sound stays in the video on your device.
Stored content. Videos, pictures, drawings, names, keywords and comments you create in the app are kept in the app’s storage on your device. They may show or name people, such as athletes. We have no access to this content. You delete it in the app, or together with the app when you uninstall it. Please only record people with their consent, and children with their parents’ consent.
Pose detection (pose and trail). Detection runs on the device with a model included in the app (MediaPipe by Google). No pictures or results are transferred.
Importing, sharing and downloading videos. When you import videos, Android opens a picker and LagLab only receives the files you choose. When you share or download a video, LagLab hands the file to the app you choose or places it in the “Download” folder. What happens to the file afterwards depends on the chosen app and its terms.
Links. Under “About LagLab”, the contact and privacy links open your email app or browser. Their own terms apply there.
Google Play. Google’s privacy policy applies to installation and updates. If you allowed Android to share diagnostic data, Google may provide us with aggregated information about crashes and app stability (in the Google Play Console). This does not tell us who you are.
3. Contact by email
If you email us, we process your address and your message to reply (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). Emails are stored with our provider Tuta (Tutao GmbH, Hanover, Germany). We delete them once the request is settled and no retention obligation applies.
4. The website laglab.app
The website is hosted on GitHub Pages (GitHub B.V., Amsterdam, and GitHub Inc., USA). When you visit it, GitHub processes technically necessary data such as your IP address to deliver the page and protect it against abuse (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Data may be transferred to the USA. GitHub Inc. is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Details are in GitHub’s privacy statement. The website itself sets no cookies and uses no analytics.
5. Your rights
You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection (Art. 15 to 21 GDPR). Write to us at the address above. You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example in the country where you live.
6. Changes
If the app changes so that other data is processed, we will update this policy. The version published here applies.
Last updated: October 2026. The German version is authoritative.
